CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION
Live Oak Canyon School models its curriculum on California State Standards. Practical instructional skills are integrated into the classroom experience to promote the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in society today. Instruction is tied to the goals and benchmarks of each student’s IEP, and mastery is determined by the achievement of
the goals. Include in the area of instruction are:

The combination of academic and practical skills curriculum help the students to relate to real world tasks. The curriculum of Live Oak Canyon School and the textbooks used to administer education mirror those utilized by the Azusa Unified School District, in which Live Oak Canyon School resides.

Students are also eligible for comprehensive psycho-educational testing. The support staff at Live Oak Canyon School also works closely with outside agencies to assist families in accessing additional support services for their child and/or other family members in need. Students that are eligible have access to the East San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupation Program and Technical Center (ESGVROP/TC) and the San Gabriel Valley Regional Center. Here they may upgrade existing skills and knowledge, pursue advanced pre-vocational training or improve their independent living skills.

REGIONAL OCCUPATION PROGRAM
Regional Occupation Program (ROP) is a public education service that provides students with the technical skills required for particular jobs, along with career guidance.
Every course offers a unit on employment seeking skills, which include job application, resume, and interview preparation.
Some of the courses offered in the program, which is available to High School juniors
and seniors age 16 and over, include:

Students earn high school credits, which are applied toward graduation. ROP has entered into articulation agreements with Citrus College, Glendale Community College, LA Trade Tech, Mt. San Antonio College, S. Seattle Community College and Chaffey College. Community-based internships in local business and industry sites are also offered in
many classes.
